The Programme is a joint initiative of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Greek Shipowners’ Social Welfare Company SYN-ENOSIS and it was aimed at public legal entities that provide health and medical care services in Greece and, more specifically, Public Hospitals and Health Centres across the country as well as at Greek non-profit private legal entities active in the Health sector. The Programme involves the funding of small and medium-scale projects, in order to meet urgent needs in the Public Health sector and enhance the services offered by health organisations in Greece by: (a) procuring medical equipment and (b) upgrading their infrastructure.
The Programme’s third cycle targeted Children’s Hospitals and General and University Hospitals, aiming to upgrade their Pediatric Departments/Units, Health Centers’ Pediatric medical offices and non-profit entities active in the Health Sector in Greece.
Emphasis was placed on supporting Hospital Units/Departments that provide vital health services for the care of children and infants. The basic evaluation and selection criteria were the extent to which each donation is necessary for the operation of the final recipient (Clinic/Department/Unit/Health Centre) of the donation, the proportion of each donation and the reduction of inequalities in the provision of healthcare (indicatively: reduction in patient travel or hardship, provision of healthcare to socially vulnerable groups) and the contribution to the enhancement of the healthcare provider’s self-efficiency.
The organisations and health units/departments that were selected for support are listed in detail below:
The above organisations will be contacted in order to confirm the specifications of the equipment to be donated and take the necessary steps to implement the grants.
*The draft of the agreements and the acceptance of the grants by the competent bodies of each health structure are pending.
To be noted that, in view of the significantly large number of needs amongst healthcare providers focusing on children and infants across Greece, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Greek Shipowners’ Social Welfare Company SYN-ENOSIS have jointly decided the continuation of the programme's targeting for the year 2022. In this framework, within the first six months of 2021, an announcement will be made with regards to the new donations targeting General Children’s Hospitals, General University Hospitals with the aim of upgrading their Pediatric Clinics/Departments/Units, Health Centres for the upgrade of their Pediatric Clinics as well as to non-profit organisations active in the Health sector in Greece.
