The 9 public health organisations and the corresponding Units, which have been preselected* for support in the framework of the “Collaborating for Health” programme for the year 2019, are announced. The Programme is a joint initiative of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Greek Shipowners’ Social Welfare Company SYN-ENOSIS and it was aimed at public legal entities that provide health and medical care services in Greece and, specifically, at Public Hospitals and Health Centres across the country as well as at Greek non-profit private legal entities active in the Health sector. The Programme involves the funding of small and medium-scale projects, in order to meet urgent needs in the sector of Public Health and enhance the services offered by health organisations in Greece by: (a) procuring medical equipment and (b) upgrading their infrastructure.
Emphasis was placed on supporting Hospital Units/Departments that provide vital health services to patients in need of intensive care. The basic evaluation and selection criteria were the extent to which each donation is absolutely necessary for the operation of the final recipient (Clinic/Department/Unit/Health Centre) of the donation, the proportion of each donation and the reduction of inequalities in the provision of healthcare (indicatively: reduction in patient travel or hardship, provision of healthcare to socially vulnerable groups) and the contribution to the enhancement of the healthcare provider’s self-efficiency.
The organisations and health units/departments that were selected for support are listed in detail below:
The above organisations will be contacted in order to confirm the specifications of the equipment to be donated and take the necessary steps to implement the grants.
*The draft of the agreements and the acceptance of the grants by the competent bodies of each health structure are pending.
