The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, since its establishment, has placed the promotion of Science as a key priority. To this end, it has occasionally implemented targeted programmes as well as specific grants, across all scientific fields, to individual researchers or teams of scientists from academic and research institutions in Greece and abroad. The longest-running programme was the "Scientific Projects", which will be completed in December 2015. It supported, for 8 consecutive years, the research community providing grants for all scientific fields.
Looking to the future, the Foundation has decided to support mainly, but not exclusively, the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities.
To this direction, the Foundation has approved the funding of the Research Center for Humanities (RCH). The RCH was established in January 2015, aiming to fund research in the humanities at various levels as well as the articulation of an agenda for the multifarious significance of these scientific fields.
The Centre has already announced the first Public Call addressed to independent and post-doctoral researchers and to scientific teams.
In the near future the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation will announce additional new initiatives aiming to support multilateral scientific and research activities mainly in Greece.
