The 2nd University Cardiology Department of the “Attikon” University General Hospital is equipped with a new state-of-the-art coronary angiography system. This new donation forms part of the Foundation’s targeted interventions in the Health sector, for the purpose of upgrading the infrastructure and equipment of hospital units throughout Greece, and is expected to contribute covering the needs of more than 2,000 patients annually.
As stated by the Director of the 2nd University Cardiology Department and Professor of Cardiology, Mr. Efstathios Iliodromitis:
“The donation of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation to the 2nd University Cardiology Department enabled the reopening of the Hemodynamic Laboratory of Electrophysiology of the “Attikon” Hospital, which has been completely idle for more than 9 months. In the new laboratory, which has been operating for a few weeks, pacemakers and defibrillators have already been implanted and interventional procedures to patients with arrhythmias have been performed. The new Laboratory allows the smooth operation of a significant University Clinic in the field of diagnosis and modern treatment of arrhythmias.”
Mr Spyridon Apostolopoulos, Director of the “Attikon” University General Hospital stated:
“Through its donation, the Latsis Foundation, proves its sensitivity towards the hospitalized patient, provides essential assistance in the smooth operation of one of the largest hospitals in the country and contributes to the faster movement of patients.”
