Operating on a 24-hour basis, the CT and MRI Department of the Attica General Hospital “Sismanogleio-Amalia Fleming” performs approximately 20.000 examinations per year, rendering it essential to the Hospital’s day-to-day function. The architectural reconstruction and the radiation shielding of the area where the new CT scanner, procured by the Greek State has been installed, was facilitated through a donation provided by the John. S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
As stated by the Department’s Director and President of the Scientific Council, Mr. Petros Antonopoulos:
“This donation offers a direct solution to the operation of the new Unit and to the department’s overall innovation. In addition to the reconstruction of the area that will host the new equipment provided by the Greek State, the department’s second CT scanner, previously donated by the Latsis Foundation, has performed approximately 60.000 scans since 2017”.
On behalf of the Foundation, Mrs. Eva Lianou, General Manager, noted that:
“The modernisation of Sismanoglio Hospital’s CT and MRI Department constitutes part of the Foundation’s targeted initiatives to strengthen the Public Health sector through infrastructural advancements and the provision of essential equipment to Hospital Units across Greece. This particular donation aims to accelerate the execution of works required to ensure the Department’s seamless operation, forming yet another example of our excellent collaboration with Sismanoglio Hospital”.
