The Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra meets the technology of Virtual Reality and brings the audience on stage - among its musicians.
Using state-of-the-art Virtual Reality equipment and 360° audio-visual material from the orchestra's live concerts, the GYSO innovates by offering a unique experience to its audience.
When wearing the ELSON VR mask, one finds itself among the young musicians of the orchestra performing key works by composers such as Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Weber, Mahler and Schubert.
This innovative project also serves educational purposes. It introduces students to symphonic music through immersive and interactive workshops. It can inspire students, spark their imagination and motivate them to explore new interests.
The ELSON VR project was designed by Dionysis Grammenos and is implemented with funding from the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
The Founder & Artistic Director of ELSON, Dionysis Grammenos notes:
"At a time when classical music seems somewhat distant and difficult to understand for a large part of our society, it is, today more than ever, high time we invented and proposed a new and creative way of attracting and communicating with the audience.
The ELSON VR, which our Orchestra comes to add to the contemporary music scene, is our attempt to making musical masterpieces of another era accessible to today's audience.
Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, and following the rules of safety and hygiene, we invite the public to experience a live symphony concert, and discover - at the same time - the great talent and potential of the new generation of Greek musicians.
We invite everyone, and especially the young people, to join us - on stage - and to experience from the inside the pulse of the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra".
