New Executive Board President Joins the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation
Τhe John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, is pleased to announce that Dr. Peter Kalantzis will be joining the Foundation as the new President of its Executive Board, effective March 30th, 2015. He is succeeding Dr. Peter Marxer, who is resigning after almost ten years of successful service as the first Executive Board President of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation.
Dr. Peter Kalantzis obtained his postgraduate and doctoral degrees in Economics from the University of Basel where he was also involved in a number of research projects. He has worked for over 30 years in various managerial positions in the Chemical Industry. From 1990 until 2000 he was Executive Vice-President of Alusuisse-Lonza Group Ltd (Zurich), responsible for the Group's chemical division as well as for the Group's strategy. In this capacity he guided the IPO of Lonza and the merger of Alusuisse with Alcan. He served as Vice-President and President of the Swiss Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry Association. He was also President of the Society for the Promotion of Economic Research at the University of Basel for seven years. Dr. Kalantzis acted in Greece as Chairman of the Boards of Petrola Hellas Ltd and Lamda Development Ltd. He is currently chairman of the Board of Directors of a number of Swiss based companies (Von Roll Holding Ltd; Clair AG; Degussa Goldhandel AG). In addition, he is also a member of the Board of Directors of CNH Industrial NV (previously Fiat Industrial), SGS Holding Ltd (Société Générale de Surveillance), Moevenpick Holding Ltd and Paneuropean Oil and Industrial Holdings.

Latsis, his dedication to education, philanthropy and social development. The Foundation plans, manages and funds programs across a wide range of issue areas including education, science, health, social welfare, culture and the environment, in collaboration with civil society partners and key players within these areas. Its approach to grant-making prioritizes the emergency relief of citizens in need, infrastructural improvement, NGO capacity building and community development.
