The event held every year for the award of the University Prizes of the Fondation Latsis Internationale, which is a member of the Network of Latsis Foundations, will take place in Geneva on Monday, 5 October. The prizes, which are accompanied by a sum of 25,000 Swiss francs each, are aimed at encouraging young university researchers, aged under 40 years old, and recognising their contribution in scientific and technological research fields. Every year, the prizes are awarded in cooperation with the University of Geneva (Université de Genève), the University of St. Gallen (Université de St Gall), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (EPFZ).
This year, the prizes will be awarded to Professor Haralambos Anastasiou from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Dr. Elie Bou-Zeid from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Dr. Reto Schumacher from the University of Geneva and Professor Frédéric Thiesse from the University of St. Gallen.
After the prize award ceremony, Bernard Tschumi, Swiss Architect and Professor at Columbia University in New York, will give a speech entitled "Architecture: concepts and frameworks of today".
