The educational activity implemented at the 4th Primary School of Tirnavos mainly aimed at:
1) creating a ‘student community’ based on the exchange of views and the equal participation of all group members, which will be governed by the values of democracy, equality, dialogue and intercultural awareness; 2) ensuring respect for and exploring the specificities of each student group (e.g. oral culture/tradition of Roma pupils, different mother tongue of immigrants); 3) the involvement of all teachers in the school (core curriculum teachers and special course teachers); 4) the development of different aspects of the term ‘literacy’, starting from its traditional meaning up to modern digital literacy and audiovisual literacy; 5) in general, the improvement of the academic performance of all school pupils.
The educational activity was divided into individual activities using, among other methods for their implementation, experiential and collaborative learning, as well as intercultural education. The links below provide a detailed presentation of these individual activities. All activities were structured in three main levels, namely, the provision of training, information and support to the school’s teachers during every stage of the programme, through the implementation of experiential workshops and the production of educational materials, awareness raising and motivating the pupils, as well as involving the school’s wider social context (parents, neighbouring schools, local community) in networking, information dissemination and artistic expression activities.
As regards the activity "Using local history and customs of our city for the development of aesthetic literacy", more information is available here, here, here and here [in Greek].
