In 2023 the non-profit organisation Safe Water Sports established on its premises the “Ocean Lab”, a new, specially designed educational space, approved by the Ministry of Education, that combines technology, play and learning. Within this space, the organisation implements an interactive educational programme, with the purpose of educating primary and high school students on matters related to safety and accident prevention in the aquatic environment. The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, continuing its long-standing collaboration with Safe Water Sports, supported the operation of the “Ocean Lab” and facilitated free educational visits and participation in the organisation’s educational programme by covering the transportation expenses for students and teachers from public schools throughout Attica during the school year 2022-2023. As part of the visits, students engaged in entertaining and educational activities using technology, in order to familiarise themselves with the aquatic element, develop a conscious behaviour to enjoy the sea safely, as well as a sense of teamwork and responsibility.

During the school year 2022-2023, 235 educational visits to the “Ocean Lab” took place, with the participation of 5,363 students.
“This experience proved to be very interesting and informative on issues related to safety at sea. The children showed a lot of interest, were actively involved and left excited at the end of the educational programme!”
