Having identified education as a key sector for a modern and cohesive society, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation supported for the second consecutive year the “Future Leaders Series – Thrace” programme, an innovative educational programme for secondary school students (aged 15-17) attending public school units in Komotini, that was designed and implemented by Alba Graduate Business School in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the Democritus University of Thrace. The aim of the Programme, which was jointly supported by Sunlight company (member of the Olympia Group), was to prepare the students for the demanding professional field in the new digital transformation era and the ongoing changes in the economy, society and the business sector by cultivating valuable skills such as leaderships, emotional intelligence, team spirit, while adopting a continuous development mindset and a lifestyle based on physical and spiritual well-being. During the five-day summer school, which was implemented in June 2023 at the facilities of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, students had the opportunity to participate in courses that combined theory with hands-on experience, as well as in team sports activities with stimuli from the fields of sports, business and volunteering.
42 students from Public Junior High Schools and High Schools of Komotini participated in the Programme.
“The Programme has been a new and great experience for me, from which I have learned –and still learning– a lot of things that will be useful later on in my life. Through the Programme we learn how to have self-confidence, solidarity and a growth mindset, which will help us achieve our goals.”
