In the summer of 2023, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation launched a new partnership with Foodon, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable social groups through innovative culinary training and professional empowerment initiatives. Embracing a creative approach to social inclusion, Foodon operates the Foodon Academy, the only Culinary Academy providing free, high-quality intensive training to people facing socio-economic challenges, with the aim of fostering their personal growth and facilitating their immediate professional rehabilitation into the catering industry. With the support of the Foundation, the first cycle of courses was implemented, during which the beneficiaries had the opportunity to train alongside renowned chefs, to develop both technical and soft skills, such as collaboration and professionalism, and to get connected with the labour market.
A total of 12 trainees attended the first cycle of classes at the Foodon Academy, with 9 graduates already employed in the catering sector.
“At Foodon Academy we train people who love cooking and wish to pursue a career in the restaurant industry, equipping them with the tools to seize opportunities and create a fresh start in life.”
