Aiming to increase youth employability and equip Civil Society with capable human resources, the NPF DESMOS is implementing the "DESMOS FOR YOUTH" programme. Through this initiative, year-long employment positions are funded for unemployed young people in non-profit organizations. In 2023, the 4th cycle of the Programme was completed with the support, among others, of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, providing young people with the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and become familiar with the Civil Society ecosystem, while also enabling Organisations to improve their services and maximize their social impact.
As part of the Programme's 4th cycle, 10 employment positions were funded across 10 non-profit organizations working in fields such as the provision of medical supplies, inclusion of people with disabilities, and women's entrepreneurship.
The participating organisations are based in Attica, Thessaloniki, Patras, Lefkada, Crete, and Veria.
86% of participants continued working after the Programme concluded.
"My participation in the Programme was a great opportunity for me both professionally and personally. Professionally, it highlighted the role of a nurse in the Social and Solidarity Economy and allowed us to strengthen the field of community health by developing a crucial service. At the same time, I grew both intellectually and emotionally, as I received training in writing collaboration proposals, implementing educational activities, and connecting with colleagues from different professional fields and countries. The stress of job hunting was replaced by the joy and excitement of each working day!"
