The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, with its main objective of fostering productive partnerships to support socially innovative initiatives for the benefit of vulnerable population groups, contributed within 2023 to the implementation of the “Net-Zero Care” project. This collective initiative of the TIMA Charitable Foundation, also supported by the Bodossaki Foundation and The Hellenic Initiative Canada, involves the energy upgrade of the building complex housing the Elderly Care Unit “Diamantideios Care Home” of the Association “Pontian Ladies Care” in the Municipality of Pavlos Melas in Thessaloniki, through upgrading works of its building and electromechanical installations coordinated and supervised by Initializing Energy Balance Towards Zero (INZEB). These interventions will improve the living conditions and quality of life for the residents, will significantly reduce the energy consumption of the Unit, and consequently reduce the annual operational expenses.
The “Diamantideios Care Home” has the capacity to accommodate 55 elderly individuals.
Through the upgrading interventions, the total energy saving will amount to 70.93%.
“Prioritising energy efficiency projects can have multiple positive impacts, including on citizens’ health and well-being, lightening the national health systems and more. This way, renovations will not only enhance the energy and environmental performance of the buildings, but also act as investments for a resilient future.”
